How Do I Need to Prepare the Site for My New Shed?

There are some things that you’ll need to have ready when your new Golden State Buildings shed arrives:

  • Make sure the site is within 6” of level.
  • If you want a gravel, decomposed granite, or other special type of foundation, it must be prepared in advance.

This applies to all of our buildings. If you have any questions about preparing your site for your new shed, please contact us. We’re happy to help!

Shed Foundation Recommendations

Here is some advice we offer homeowners who come to us with questions regarding site prep for their shed:

  • With a wood floor system, it’s best to set the shed on concrete blocks on the dirt if the soil is undisturbed and firm. If the soil is fresh, loose, or sandy, bring in a few inches of gravel or decomposed granite.
  • We highly recommend a concrete pad, as it provides a solid base for a shed, but it may come with an additional cost.

If you would like a recommendation for a concrete foundation installer or need help determining which shed foundation is right for your situation, please contact us. We’d be happy to help in any way we can!
